What's Your Eye Type?

Finding the Best Lash Style for You

If you’ve had some experience shopping online for lash extensions, you would know by now there are dozens of different styles of lashes to choose from. But were you aware that different styles can be more suited for some people than others depending on their eye shape?

We thought we’d make things a little easier by listing some of the main eye types and suggesting some lash styles that may best complement them. So if you’re new to lash extensions or a little unsure where to start, this article will be great for you.

Keep in mind though this is just our professional opinion, at the end of the day, choose whichever lash style will make you feel your most sexy-self 🥰

1. Almond

An example of someone with almond shaped eyes

The most common eye shape, almond eyes, is also considered the most alluring in “convention beauty”. As the name suggests, the eye is almond-shaped, where the length is greater than the height with a slight upward flick towards the outer corners.

Our Lash Recommendations:

If you have almond-shaped eyes, you are very fortunate as just about any style will look fantastic. It really comes down more to personal preference. A Cat-Eye style lash, such as our Celestia, will accentuate the length of your eye to give a very alluring look similar to the above image. If you have darker eyes, then this is a great choice. Or perhaps if you have blue or green eyes, you might opt for a more rounded Doll-Eye, like our Iris, to make your eyes look bigger, which is excellent for a more dramatic look.

2. Protruding

An example of someone with protruding eyes

The opposite of deep-set eyes, protruding eyes sit towards the front of the eye socket and more often than not tend to be more round in shape. This means if you have protruding eyes, they’ll appear larger (lucky you!), so the aim here is to add emphasis to the outer corners of the eye.

Our Lash Recommendation:

For deep-set eyes, choose a Cat-Eye style like our Celestia lash. Adding the extra length and fullness to the outer corners will stimulate that almond-shaped eye that many women strive and it will help draw attention to your beautiful big eyes.

3. Monolid

Also known as single lid eyes, monolid eyes lack a visible crease. This eye type also commonly is associated with straighter natural lashes. Choosing the proper lash can open up the eye and if you want more flair to your lashes, then be sure to pick one with a curl to create more drama.

Our Lash Recommendations:

Choose something that is a mix of a Baby Doll and a Cat Eye. This will provide that extra length to the outer corners, elongating your eye shape delivering that sexy, accentuated look. From our range, lashes like our Iris and Divina would be great choices.

4. Hooded

An example of someone with hooded eyes

Hooded eyes are characterised by that little extra bit of skin that sits just above the crease of your eye. The degree of how hooded eyes are varies quite a bit. If you are conscious of your heavily hooded eyes, don’t stress because lash extensions can work wonders for hooded eyes.

Our Lash Recommendation:

You want to open them up as much as possible for hooded eyes, so an Open-Eye style is an obvious choice. With something like our Pandora lashes, you add fullness and length to the eye’s centre with the inner and outer corners tapering off. The more dramatic lash, the better as you really want to add more depth, so make sure to go for length and volume.

5. Close-Set

An example of someone with close set eyes

Close-set eyes refer to the distance between the eyes rather than the eye shape. Typically it is characterised by a gap between the eyes that is less than the width of one eye. To find out if your eyes are close-set, measure between the inner and outer corner of your eye. Then measure the space between the inner corners of both eyes. If your measurement between both inner corners is less than between one eye’s outer and inner measurements, you are considered to have “close-set” eyes.

Our Lash Recommendation:

If you had close-set eyes, then you might want to draw focus to your outer corners. Lashes with short inner corners that gradually lengthen out to the outer corner will deliver that needed length. The more dramatic length on the outer corner, the better. A lash like our Orphelia would work wonders for close-set eyes.

6. Deep-Set

An example of someone with deep set eyes

Once again, we’re dealing with eye position and not shape. If you have deep-set eyes, then your eyes will sit further towards the back of the eye socket. What your aim might be here is to “draw” your eyes out so that they appear to be more protruding.

Our Lash Recommendations:

Styles like the Baby Doll or Open Eye are an excellent choice for deep-set eyes as they create the illusion of the eyes sitting towards the front of your eye socket. If you have deep-set eyes that are more round, choose a Baby Doll eye such as the Venus lash. If you have more hooded eyes, then go with a more Open Eye style like our Elektra.

7. Downturned

An example of someone with downturned eyes

This eye type is to do with the angle of the eye. People with downturned eyes have outer corners that sit below the inner corner. Even outer corners that sit directly across on a horizontal line are considered downturned eye types.

Our Lash Recommendation:

Here you want to create some serious volume on the upper outer corners so that you “lift” the eye. Cat-Eye lashes are perfect as they flick upwards at the outer corner. If you want a Cat Eye with some good length and volume, choose something impactful like Calypso.

8. Round

An example of someone with round eyes

For those lucky enough to possess beautiful big eyes then they probably already demand a lot of attention even without lash extensions. Round eyes tend to almost be as tall as they are wide, giving that open-eyed innocent look.

Our Lash Recommendation:

Given that your natural round eyes are such an attention grabber, you may not want to add anything too dramatic to them. A more subtle Cat Eye, like our Astra lash, will add that little bit of length of your eye, balancing out the shape, allowing for that sometimes sought after almond shape whilst still retaining the beautiful round of your eyes.
